چکیده

background: the innate immunity plays an important role in the host response to transplantation by toll-like receptors and results in development of acute allograft rejection. the aim of this study was to evaluate the association of tlr2 and cd14 (co-receptor) gene polymorphisms with acute rejection in kidney transplant recipients.   methods : the study was conducted in a population of 239 subjects consisting of 71 patients with acute rejection, 71 patients without acute rejection (sgf) and 97 healthy control (hc). the allele and genotype frequencies of tlr2 (r753q, rs5743708) and cd14 (-159 c>t, rs2569190) polymorphisms were genotyped by real-time pcr in the study groups. results : genotype distribution of cd14 -159 polymorphism was significantly different in ar vs. sgf and hc. cd14 -159 tt genotype was more prevalent in rejection than sgf and hc (p

Association of Candidate Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Related to Candidate Genes in Patients With Schizophrenia

Introduction: Schizophrenia is a chronic heterogenic neurodevelopment disorder. Many genes interfere in the development of SCZ. All four genes, NrCAM, PRODH, ANK3, and ANKK1, which were evaluated in this study, were previously reported to be associated with Schizophrenia. The NrCAM contributes to creating cognitive deficiencies through the CAM’s signaling pathway. PRODH plays a vital role in cr...

Prediction of Rejection in Renal Transplantation by Immune Parameters

Background: Monitoring of phenotypic characteristics of T-lymphocytes in peripheral blood is commonly performed to give the clinical parameters in the management of kidney transplant recipients.   Objective: To predict rejection in renal transplantation by immune parameters. Methods: 16 non-diabetic kidney transplant candidates (4 females and 12 males, age = 20-65 yr, first time transplant) wer...

Investigation of fimH Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (C640T and T591A) in Uropathogenic E. coli Isolated from Patients with Urinary Tract Infections

Background: Urinary tract infections are one of the most frequent health problems and Uropathogenic Escherichia coli is the major pathogen resulting UTIs. The severity of UTIs is caused by the expression of a large range of virulence factors. In this study, we evaluated the allelic frequency fimH gene, in UPECs isolated from patients with UTIs. This study also aimed to determine the roles of C64...

Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of Human STING Can Affect Innate Immune Response to Cyclic Dinucleotides

The STING (stimulator of interferon genes) protein can bind cyclic dinucleotides to activate the production of type I interferons and inflammatory cytokines. The cyclic dinucleotides can be bacterial second messengers c-di-GMP and c-di-AMP, 3'5'-3'5' cyclic GMP-AMP (3'3' cGAMP) produced by Vibrio cholerae and metazoan second messenger 2'5'-3'5' Cyclic GMP-AMP (2'3' cGAMP). Analysis of single nu...

Are Immune Modulating Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Associated with Necrotizing Enterocolitis?

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating gastrointestinal emergency. The purpose of this study is to determine if functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in immune-modulating genes pre-dispose infants to NEC. After Institutional Review Board approval and parental consent, buccal swabs were collected for DNA extraction. TaqMan allelic discrimination assays and BglII endonucleas...
